Caroline Wozniacki finally broke her silence over the news of her split from fiance Rory McIlroy with — what else? — a tweet:

Wozniacki is a vocal Liverpool supporter, and the team’s anthem is “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”  And as Serena Williams quickly reminded her, she’s not alone in this.

McIlroy released a statement on Wednesday announcing he had broken off his engagement because of cold feet.

The problem is mine,” McIlroy said. “The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realize that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails.”

Wozniacki’s Twitter avatar used to feature McIlroy, but she’s now changed it and dropped “fiancee” from her bio as well.

I thought Europeans liked living in sin, are those days gone too like so many other good things?  Boohoo.  A shame they can't just carry on as before, why the pressure to marry?

@pat.davis148 Because maybe she wanted to get married and start a family while she's of child bearing age.  Maybe she didn't want to be a baby mama.
